Here is Blackburn College University Centre’s response to our Freedom of Information request:
Q: Does your HE establishment have a policy on the use of fur?
Q: Does real fur feature in any of your fashion or design courses, and if so, in what way?
A: The Contemporary Fashion, Textiles and Interiors has featured the effects of fur as a part of secondary research. This was a Level 4 topic and it was to investigate anti-fur campaigns from the following website: https://furforanimals.org/ No practical fur was introduced or worked with as a media. This was digital based.
Q: What financial support, including sponsored competitions do you receive from the fur industry?
A: The College does not receive any financial support including sponsored Competitions from the Fur Industry as part of this programme.
Q: Does your HE establishment allow or facilitate the fur industry to promote design competitions, summer schools, sponsorships, internships, or scholarships?
A: No. Students are encouraged to not use fur or be a part of any sponsors/industry companies to promote the use of fur as a benefit.
This university discourages the use of fur but has no written policy to support this.
Please urge the University to adopt a written fur free policy. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
